A footbridge has been torn down to make way for a new hotel in the city. The footbridge over Melville Street has been removed so that progress can begin on a major hotel project in Lincoln.

The bridge was a popular spot for photographers in the city thanks to its stunning views of Lincoln Cathedral, and it was widely used by residents and visitors. Photos of the demolition taken on Friday, May 16, show how the bridge was carefully torn down piece by piece.

Lincolnshire Co-op secured permission for the demolition in 2023 along with the new six-storey project. . The vacant Co-op building on the corner of Waterside South in the Cornhill Quarter has also been torn down in recent months.
