A convicted sex offender has appeared in court after he allegedly fled HMP North Sea Camp on a stolen prison service bike.
Paul Robson, 56, was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2000 for sexually assaulting and attempting to rape a woman at knifepoint, is charged with absconding from the open prison on February 13 and theft of a pedal cycle.
He was brought up to the dock at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court flanked by prison officers and spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.
Robson was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a grey sweatshirt and sported a short goatee beard and moustache.
No pleas were indicated and magistrates remanded Robson in custody.
The case was sent for a plea and direction hearing at Lincoln Crown Court on March 18.
Chairman of the magistrates was Nicky Howe and Robson was represented in court by Justin Atkinson.
