A 74-year-old man has died following crash on Newland in Lincoln

A 74-year-old man has died after a collision on Newland, Lincoln yesterday 31 July.

Police were called out in the early afternoon as two vehicles crashed into each other near The Scene nightclub.

Newland was closed for just under three hours as police, fire and rescue and paramedics attended the incident.

Cars parked in the Lucy Tower car park were diverted out towards Silver Street as the emergency services attended to those involved in the collision.

Police cordoned off the area until the road was reopened at around 3:20pm.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “We received a call at 12.27pm, reporting a two-vehicle collision involving a red Lexus car and a brown Ford Galaxy on Newland, Lincoln.

“Despite the efforts of paramedics at the scene, the driver of the Lexus, a 74-year-old man, died.

“The driver of the Galaxy, a man in his 50s, was uninjured.

“The road was closed while emergency services attended the incident. It was re-opened at around 3.20pm.”
